Yosemite
Not just a great Valley, but a shrine to human foresight, the strength of granite, the power of glaciers, the persistence of life, and the tranquility of the High Sierra.
Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in the United States, is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.
All this just minutes from Pine mountain Lake in Groveland!

Skiing in Yosemite
Discover Skiing in Yosemite
Most people think of winter in Yosemite as a season of limits, but it can be a season of possibilities. Cold and snow work better than any backcountry permit system to keep wild areas wild, and remoteness begins just out of earshot of the nearest road. If you enjoy solitude, try Yosemite skiing or cross-country skiing in winter. Chances are it'll be all yours.
Like most of our national parks, California's Yosemite sees the vast majority of its visitors during warm weather months. Few of the annual 3.5 million visitors come to see the park in its winter splendor--an ideal time to enjoy her serenity and beauty Even if you don't ski; a visit to Yosemite in winter is worth the trip.
Badger Pass is Yosemite's family-oriented ski and winter sports area. There are lifts for downhill skiing and lessons for the novice. Rental equipment along with instruction in classic cross-country skiing and skating technique as well as telemarking is available at the Yosemite Cross Country Ski Center. Snowshoeing is also an option as is skiing on a short, three-kilometer groomed Nordic trail at Badger Pass. More significantly, this venerable ski area is the jumping off spot for a cross country ski adventure to Glacier Point

Dodge Ridge Ski Resort
For all its modern amenities, easy rolling shoulders, calming views, and rugged beauty, Dodge Ridge remains a throwback to an on-snow experience that harkens back to a former era launched by exuberant outdoorsmen. There are few off-slope attractions. The resort remains more of a rarefied mountain outpost where people, bound by a collective independent spirit, happily rub elbows and revel in the seductive vistas and beautiful wonder of nature. The high alpine resort still prides itself on being all things to all people.
